Attached is the text of the play. I have highlighted the music we used, but that can be the choice of the director. There is also a table of props needed for the play. Each child who represented an Amesha Spenta had an outfit that reflected the creations they protect.

This is the final text of the play hence it has the names of the cast.

THE NAVROZE TABLE
 
STAGE SETUP - Table with a white table cloth (sheet) with little sticky notes for placement of table settings.
MUSIC - Cappriccio Espagnol – about 20-30 sec.

ZINAIDA - walks on stage –– NEED MIKE

ZINAIDA “Dear friends, Navroz Mubarak!

Our Earth has made another journey around the Sun, and Spring is here. That means time for welcoming the renewal of our blue planet after the long cold winter. This is a time for joy and merriment. Today, the children will set the Navroz table that celebrates Ahura Mazda’s natural creations. The table will also display other items that represent Persian tradition.
Best of all, after the table is laid, the party moves to the stage and we ALL get to share all the yummy goodies.

ZINAIDA -– In the beginning the universe was like a blank sheet of paper. One day, Ahura Mazda decided to fill this blank with his various creations. He also created seven holy immortals to protect his natural creations – we refer to them as the AMESHA SPENTAS.”

MUSIC – TWINKLE TWINKLE 1ST. VARIATION

JADEN - stage left - walks up to the front and center of the stage holding a photo of Zarathushtra:

JADEN – Zarathushtra is our prophet who brought the message of Ahura Mazda to the people. That is why we place his photograph first on the table. Child places the photograph on an easel. Exit stage right. Next Music begins as Jaden is exiting.

MUSIC – MINUET IN G

JAMSHEED MISTRI – walks on from stage left to center stage holding a metal “Ses”.

JAMSHEED MISTRI –“First, Ahura Mazda first created the sky and metals. The Amesha Spenta K-SHUT-RA-WEAR-YA helps look after the creations of sky and metals.” Child places “ses” on the table. Exit stage right. Next music begins as Jamsheed exits stage.

MUSIC: Fur Elise

ZEHAN – Walks on with a pitcher of water.

ZEHAN – “Next, Ahura Mazda created pure water. The Amesha Spenta

WHO-R-VAA-TUT helps look after the creation of water.” Child places pitcher on table. Exit stage right. Next music begins (as above).

MUSIC - MOLDAU

TISHTAR – walks on stage with a potted plant.

TISHTAR – “Now, Ahura Mazda created the Earth. The Amesha Spenta
SPENTA-ARM-MIGHTY helps look after the creation of earth. I’ll place this potted plant on the table, because I cannot lift the entire earth and place it on the table.”

Child places the potted plant. Exit stage right. Next Music begins

MUSIC:Moonlight Sonata – mvt. 2

Children 5 and 6 – Walk on stage with a tray of fruit and flowers and leaves in a vase.

NEVILLE AND SAM HIRAMANEK speak together: “Then, Aura Mazda created all the - (NEVILLE)plants, (SAM) the vegetables, (NEVILLE)the trees with (SAM) sweet fruit and (NEVILLE) flowers. (SPEAK TOGETHER) The Amesha Spenta A-MAY- RAY- TUT helps look after the creation of all plants, vegetables, trees fruits, and flowers.
Children place the fruits and flowers on the table. Children exit Stage right. Cue in next music.

MUSIC - Kinderscene

KARL HIRAMANEK - Walk on stage with a pitcher of milk.

KARL HIRAMANEK – “Ahura Mazda now created all the animals, large and small. The Amesha Spenta VO – WHO- MAN- AA helps look after all animal life. This pitcher of milk represents the animals. Just imagine a full grown dog on the Navroz table – (child nodding disapprovingly) I don’t think so.

Karl places the pitcher of milk. Child exits stage right. Next music begins

JAMSHEED MISTRY – Walks on stage. NO PROPS.

JAMSHEED MISTRY – “Ahura Mazda’s sixth creation is Man – strong, intelligent and entrusted with the protection of all his creations. The Amesha Spenta
SPENT –A- MAIN-YOU helps look after Mankind. We are all present here, each of us is a unique creation of Ahura Mazda.
Child exits Stage right. Music…

CARL CANTEENWALLA - walks on stage with a small metal “Afargan” with a burning votive candle.

CARL CANTEENWALLA – “Lastly Ahura Mazda created fire. The Amesha Spenta ASHA-VA-HISH-TA helps look after the creation of fire.”
Child places the “afargan” on the table. Exit Stage right. Music…

FREYANA –“The Khordeh Avesta is our prayer book.”

SAROSH KAZAK - skips onto the stage with a fistful of shiny coins.

SAROSH KAZAK– Jiggling the coins - “These coins are placed on the table to represent prosperity.”
Child distributes the coins on the table. Exit Stage right. Music…

MUSIC – PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION

SOHRAB KAZAK – Holds a basket of colored eggs (can be empty shells).

SOHRAB KAZAK – “Eggs are placed on the table to represent life. Every life form on this earth starts as an egg.”
Child places the basket on the table. Exits Stage right. Music…

MUSIC – MOZART MUSICAL JOKE

JADEN– Holds a framed mirror.

JADEN – “ The Mirror is placed on the table, so one may look in the mirror and think about the past year, what they liked about it, and what they’d want to change in the new year.”
Child places the mirror . Exits stage right. Music…

MUSIC – GAITE PARISIENNE

JAMSHEED MISTRY- Holds a bowl of sprouted wheat.

JAMSHEED MISTRY – Tradition has it that a bowl of sprouted wheat on the Navroz table represents UNITY. Each seed of wheat grows on its own. All the seeds grow together and draw upon each other’s strength to become a lush and beautiful carpet of green. This teaches us to work together as a community with unity to achieve a common goal.
Child places the bowl of sprouted wheat on the table. Exits Stage right. Music…

MUSIC- MAPLE LEAF RAG –

ZINAIDA: Dear friends, we hope you have enjoyed this little demonstra…..

ZEHAN rushes onto the stage dressed in colorful candy wrappers carrying a large bowl of candy.

ZEHAN – “Oh please wait a minute! The Table is not set. I hold in my hands a bowl of chocolate. As we are setting the Navroz table that represents Ahura Mazda’s creations, I feel that candy deserves its rightful place on the table because…
1 – I consider it a plant material – hello, the COCOA bean!
• Amesha Spenta A-MAY-RAY-TUT helps look after all plant creations including the COCOA bean.

2 – Mention the word “candy” and it puts a smile on everyone’s faces – am I right? AAAND - Navroz is a joyous occasion and a food that puts a smile on everyone’s faces truly belongs on the Navroz table.

ZEHAN – places the bowl of candies on the table.
ZEHAN – “ENJOY!”

As children walk on stage – MUSIC CARNIVAL OF ANIMALS FINALE

All Children walk on stage from stage right. Children take about 30secs. To settle in 1 line ZINAIDA: Ladies and Gentlemen, the children of our Sunday school class who have worked very hard for the past months to put on this show.

Narrator and all Children bow before the audience.

ZINAIDA: Please also give a round of applause to the hardworking parents. Without their support we would not be here, before you. Please come on over and help yourselves to natures goodies, and Navroz Mubarak to all!
The entire cast exits stage. Zinaida is the last to exit.
